66 Korean songs that I liked in 2018. Part 3: 44-34

Another one of those.

44. Cacophony - Gyeolgug

Long and behold, fellow atheist. This is not some religious christian gospel. After a while shit begins to get interesting. She starts screaming and the beat picks up in the chorus. At some point she spits words backwards, so I believe "결국"  is actually a ritual song for summoning Satan. I listened to this song alone at night once and it legitimately cripped me out a bit, haha.

43. YANG.D - Foolish

I listen to "Foolish" when I want to relax, so no annoying clicky clacky snappy sounds here. The song is a chill underwater experience. Engrishy "But it feels like fool" in the chorus is a highlight for me. As well as guitar solos.

42. nafla - Sagwasangja feat. loopy

I'm somewhat biased towards nafla. Even if this song is a generic boom trap, I feel cool listening to this couple of best homies.

Bonus chips for going all Kakegurui on my ass in the MV.

FYI: nafla's another good track.

41. Jongup (B.A.P) - Annoying (Feat. Zelo)

Another bias of mine - B.A.P. This cheesy pop rock number didn't become annoying for me yet, so I'm enjoying it to the fullest. I see they went Go with the breakdown sung in unison. I like that. Everyone in KPop sings love songs and shit and here's Jongup who is annoyed by everything instead.

Bonus points for the ever-smiling namja's cute dance while having the brightest smile ever.

40. WETTER - Hello Sunshine

When did Drug Restaurant start embracing clean Grudge fashion? Seriously, both bands' main vocalists have practically identical voices. These kinda cute skinny losers don't play fair. They use another cheat code by relying on the power of papaparapapapapara. I didn't like Hello Sunshine much at first, but it steadily grew on me. One of the complains that I have is that the last 30 seconds are too noisy.

39. Kassy - I want love

"I want love" is an unique case. I can't stand the chorus and dislike the verses. Despite that, the violin, no, not that one, the "artificial" one (?), together with the drop beat slaps me until I like the song. "솔직히 말해줘" (soljighi malhaejwo) is the best part.

38. Double K - SOMEONE (Feat. XulianX)

Idgaf about the easily forgettable verses or the majority of the song. My impatience during the initial discovery of "SOMEONE", thankfully, didn't stop me from getting to the meat of the song. I was awarded by the awesome 80s groovy sequence with 128 kbps quality like in good old days. Immediately nostalgia reached its grabby hands into my mind and now I associate "SOMEONE" with the MIB: The Series ed, that I consider the benchmark for the 80s groove stuff, because childhood memories and shit.

37. iKON - KILLING ME

I fucking hate the verses in this song. Luckily, the part when everyone shuts up and the interesting instrumental & vocal mix-mash takes the lead it stops the verses from killing me. The corresponding dance, especially when they bow down, is cool. The collaborative replay of Bobby's bit towards the end is nice.

36. PENTAGON - Shine

I forgive Pentagon for being vocal terrorists, because the simple underlying childish melody and 찌질이 (jjijiri) are contagious af.  Oh, and they shit on themselves in the lyrics. Chanting the main melody together by the end is good. I support that.

I expect of them not to continue E'Dawn's peculiar patented crackhead ways after his departure. It's morally wrong and a copyright infringement. Nobody's like you, E'Dawn

35. Yubin - Thank U Soooo Much

Thank U Soooo Much possesses sad undertones. On top of that, Yubin looks like one of female professors in my uni. That causes anxiety in me that leads to a stronger emotional connection, I guess? The song's consistently good throughout its whole duration. I prefer experiencing this song via the MV. The camera doesn't frantically wander around opposite of KPop's usual fashion. Instead, close-up shots, accentuating certain moments (quick Thank U Soooo Much smile, You talk to much hand gesture), and wide shots help to register the dance, that, btw, is called "Waacking", apparently. I'll mentally note it as "that dance, that's not extremely hard to copy". I mean, you just need to use what, your hands instead of your legs, right? I'll stop here. I'm sorry for being too-much-talker.

34. Changstarr - Fiji Water (Feat. Owen Ovadoz) (Prod. Beautiful Disco & Viann)

Stumbling on interesting musicians, that I wasn't aware of before, like Changstarr is one of the reasons that I'm glad I didn't blow my brains out yet while crawling through piles of shit in the form of coffee shop snoozefests, vocally egotistic ballads,  mind numbing trap shit, etc. Changstarr just has the looks and the attitude of Russell Brand. He oozes relaxed big dick energy, that is reflected in his music.

Fiji Water is my favorite song from the unique sounding Vagabonds album. The first 11 seconds are my favorite. This heart-manipulating sample, that sounds like sea and kicks off the song, lies underneath the whole track. Fiji Water goes against 2018 insipid rap trends and it plays in it favour. Changstarr's chill reggae-like flow fits the theme. The song overall brings me pleasant visual imagery of sitting on the beach near Hawaiian waters. One of the minus points is that the chorus & complementary wabwabwabwa instrumental accompaniment is lame.

FYI: Sperm Man MV suggests some real healthy pornography with unfiltered real, as in you can see women like her in real life in the streets, Korean woman with her tits out. At first as I watched, I stupidly thought CJamm was Mckdaddy and vice a versa, lol. I was confused as to why CJail looked drastically different and way thinner like he came back from a concentration camp. He sucked on the track, btw.

FYI 2: More than Money (Feat. Owen Ovadoz, E.K.~, DJ SQ) is another good track with a disappointing chorus on the album. Our chingu smelling like weed ain’t doin this shit for money bruh, he does it for the pussy, man. Gotta love his honesty, lol.
