My favourite KPop songs of 2022

Yo, first post of 2023. Did I even post shit last year?? Feels like I touched this blog ages ago, haha. Hope my new more stressful and time consuming job won't prevent me from posting shit that I aim to this year. (╯˘ -˘ )╯

While I didn't post shit last year I didn't stop listening to KPop and I am happy how we had a surge of KPop songs infused with rock elements. The whole y2k trend is cool too since it brings me back to my childhood and shit. Saying all that, the subjective unnumbered list of the KPop shit that I liked from 2022 is under the jump break.

My favourtie KPop songs of 2021

Ugh... look at this peasant's shit taste. This asshole didn't even include my fucking song!

Another year, another subjective list! I decided not to assign numbers to song positions this year, because I constantly change my mind and shit. Hope my laptop won’t break after opening this post with shit ton of videos in it.

Stray Cat Boys

Curse the producers of this episode of the "Stray Kids doing whatever the fuck they are forced to do for our amusement" show # 195 for further leading me astray to the path of degeneracy. I didn't give much of a fuck about cat femboys before, but now when I saw this embarrassingly cute scene where Lee Minho unleashed his cat lady power on Yongbok I might get the appeal, fuck.

My favourite KPop songs of 2020

Me after finishing writing this shitty list

This is a list of KPop songs that I liked in 2020 gathered all in one place, so that I could easily find them in the future. The numbers are not set in stone and possibly will change with time in my head. There are shit ton of videos embedded. I hope my laptop doesn't die when I open this post, haha.

Wow, a Rebellious CPop song that doesn't suck DIDI

From my understanding most CPop stuff that gets popular on charts and shit are either boring ballads or insipid ancient trends. The last CPop song that I remember liking was this random song, because of the chorus only, and this song wasn't even from Jolin Tsai.

At first I thought "Rebellious" would develop into some shitty trend like jungle house or whatever it's called, but then the chorus came with its catchy ass vocal melody and interesting eerie, but not messy instrumental bouquet leading the way, and proved me wrong. This is definitely better than whatever dull KPop-esque crap the group he's a part of makes. He should ditch ONER and change his stage name to LONER, haha.

Reject tradition, embrace modernity

Some mildly annoying BL BS

See what bullshit I can pull out of my BL's ass that I find mildly annoying or funny. This shit can be present in 99,(9)% of BL manga, so it's inevitable BL that I like is also likely to have some of the points listed in this post. :-I

Lamenting about my silly Chinese gay pr0n comics after the jump break.

Eve got noticed by the big guys!

Eve keep getting love calls from bigger and bigger anime studios and that's pretty dope! This time it's for anime "Jujutsu Kaisen". Looking at the first episode it's a fast-paced shounen revolving around Japanese spooky curse mythology. I'll watch some more episodes, but idk if I'll continue.

The 1st episode is basically speed run to quickly get the ball rolling. Everything happened so fast there was no time to get attached to characters. I didn't give a fuck about the main hero's grandpa dying, tbh. I've found the unfunny jokes to be outdated and a bit lame. Some stock sound effects like from Cinema Sins' YT channel harmed the immersiveness. On the plus side though, the fight scene looked great and the hip-hoppy OST at the 1st monster encounter was cool.

Now to the song itself - it's serviceable, but not the greatest Eve track. I thought it had pleasant guitar riffs, which is given for E ve, exotic Japanese instrument bits in the beginning and at the end perfectly matching with the water visuals, and decent pre- & chorus, but awkward low-energy one-note verses.

+ Get that MAPPA moolah + clout

Fujo Keiji: BL Unlimited: Kimi Note is sexy and cute

It's a new fresh start for a blog-post series where I try to pull out thoughts out of my smooth brain on ancient/new BL manga and possibly other mediums that I happened to read/see that time and put that into words, this time with a new and I hope better name playing on the title of the anime Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited [The Millionaire Detective – Balance: UNLIMITED], just because fugou kinda rhymes with fujo, haha.

Intro post here.

For the fresh RE:start I chose a manga that I like to occasionally go back to called Kimi Note. It combines four short stories. Out all of them I think the first one is the best, so I'll shortly "review" only that one after the jump-cut.

Eve are back on their track [Inochinotabekata] [いのちの食べ方]

Finally, eve, the lonely edgy weebs' dreams' sonic and visual representation, released a contender for Tokyo Ghetto's place in my book. Sure, some songs since then were aight and had incredible MVs, but none has grabbed me like Tokyo Ghoul Ghetto did until いのちの食べ方 came out.

I fucking love groovy shit in my songs as can be seen from the song rated first in this post. As soon as I heard bass guitar building up in the beginning I knew this song would be the shit. Although eve do write memorable melodies the main guitar melody in this song is especially pleasant. As in Tokyo Ghetto the verses stir up interest with rhythmic bass drum beat before slowing down for more memorable pre-chorus and then finally leading to chorus with great emotional YORUGA (or whatever he's saying), what sung besides similarly emphasized words doesn't matter (vocal melody is whatever). Unlike Tokyo Ghetto, where breakdown seemed to follow continuity of the song a bit better, here breakdown, while didn't sound awful, felt a bit shoehorned in. At the end Eve used a sneaky tactic of abrupt ending of the song playing into desire to hit that replay button again and again.

The MV is magnifique as always. It was done by one person, damn. Their name is Mariyasu. Their website is gorgeous. I like it. Although heavy, Japanese websites tend to be beautifully visually organised.
